Susan Aida Bleiler

Sue Bleiler died peacefully at age 74, on January 16, 2014 at her home in Richland, Washington. Susana Aida Bleiler was born August 18, 1939 in Quito, Ecuador, the daughter of Carmela and Emilio Guarderas.

Sue grew up in Ecuador loving the outdoors and animals, horses in particular, as she was an accomplished Equestrian. Sue was the first person in her family to move to the United States. Bravely setting out on her own at a young age, she moved to California, not speaking much English or knowing anyone. There she met and married Dan Linehan and had two children, Monica and Robert.

She later divorced and married Colin Bubs Bleiler, moving with her children to Richland, Washington. There they owned and operated many different types of businesses.

Sue was a kind-hearted, giving person. She volunteered at many places in many ways--the food bank, as a translator for the Women's Pregnancy Center, and reading to children, to name a few. Sue was an active member of Christ the King Church. She was always there for her family and friends when they needed her. She was a very talented artist. Her paintings will be treasured by loved ones for years to come. Sue was a great daughter, sister, wife, mother, and aunt. She was also a wonderful listener and loyal friend. One of her best pieces of advice is remembered as, "God gave you two ears and one mouth, to listen twice as much as you talk." She had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh. Sue, Susana, Suzy, Susana Banana, Mamacita, Mom, Aunt Sue, Nana, Grandma Shoe will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege to know and love her and be a part of her life.

Sue is survived by her son Robert Linehan, stepdaughters' Kathy Skaggs and Kami Softich and stepson, Kevin Bleiler; sisters Ruth Consuegra and Ximena Guarderas, brothers Ivan, Pat, and Xavier Guarderas; grandchildren include Katie Doughty, Jeff Skaggs, Tori and Haley Softich, Camren Bleiler and great granddaughter Alice Doughty; nieces and nephews, Nena Newsom, Lorena Espinosa, Albert Consuegra, Sandra Kahn, Carl Martinez, and Donny and Kenny Ray. And many many more family members and close friends.

Sue was preceeded in death by daughter, Monica Linehan, husband, Colin "Bubs" Bleiler, parents Emilio and Carmela Guarderas, and niece Veronica Guarderas.

The family held a private memorial and celebration of Sue's life. In lieu of cards or flowers, the family would prefer a donation to the local food bank in Suzy's honor where she often volunteered. You can mail a check to Tri-Cities Food Bank, 321 Wellsian Way, Richland, WA 99352, or drop off donations at that same location in person 7:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. weekdays. The food bank can be reached at 509-943-2795, or you can check out their website at http://www.tricitiesfoodbank.org/.
