Clemente Mercado, 89, passed away February 20, 2014 in San Antonio, Texas.

Clemente was born in Notchesclan, Zacatecas, Mexico. As an adolescent he learned about farm living; sheep herding, raising livestock, and loving his rustic upbringing.

At 18 he established U.S. citizenship; he strived to achieve the American dream with the intent to provide for his family back home. He learned English on his own. His knowledge for farm equipment engineering led to a trucking career; owning land and rental property in the U.S.

He married Alicia J. Jimenez in 1955 and they had seven girls. He was proud to guard his daughters like gold, they were his treasures.

He was survived by his wife Alicia J. Mercado, and daughters Angela M. Cox, Alicia M. Torres, Elda Mercado, Letticia M. Rodriguez, Emma Mercado, Emeralda Cross and Yolanda M. LeMeieux.
