Lucille K. Thurman

Lucille K Thurman, 87, of Benton City, WA passed away February 22, 2014, at Life Care Center of Richland. She was born August 19, 1926 in Reading, MN to Mr. Leo and Nelly Kuemper. Lucille was one of six children where she was raised and grew up on a farm in Hankison, ND.

She attended St. Francis Hospital in Breckenridge, MN, and in 1947 she graduated with her bachelor's degree in the Registered Nursing Program.

Lucille met Loren E. Thurman in 1950; they married on September 21, 1951. Together they had seven children. While living in the Tri-City area she worked for Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Pasco, and later on for HEHF.

Lucille retired as a nurse after giving 62 years in the field. She joined the Young Ladies Institute with Christ the King Parish.

Lucille is survived by her son, Michael Thurman of Kennewick, WA; son, Patrick Thurman; daughter, Theresa Setterburg of Minneapolis, MN; daughter, Julie Hughes of Port Orchard, WA; son, Larry Thurman of Benton City, WA and daughter, Cynthia Genack of Appleton, WI. She is also survived by her eleven grandchildren and her ten great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her son, Timothy Thurman 1996; husband, Loren E. Thurman 2003, parents, Leo and Nelly Kuemper; sibilings, Bernard 1956, Garrit 1960, Mayme 2008 and Elmer 1986.

Visitation with a Rosary will be held at Einan's Funeral Home on Sunday, March 2, 2014 from 6:00pm-8:00pm. A memorial Mass will be held at Christ the King Catholic Church on Monday, March 3, 2014 at 10:00am.

    You fought a good fight though not 92yrs as you prayed but you have touched more lives than people given a million chances would ever touch.
