Allan Bruce Cross

Allan Bruce Cross, 72, of Kennewick passed away peacefully at the Royal Columbian Retirement Inn on March 4th. He was born in Washington, DC and lived the majority of his life in Richland. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Phyllis Cross, and two sisters, Carol Llewellyn and Mary Jane Marratt. He is survived by two brothers, Robert and Duane; two cousins, Roy Cross and Helen Kirk; three children, Sherri Garrett, Scott Cross, and Ambrea Cross; and six grandchildren, Braden, Bryan, D'Lana, Andrew, Amiria, and Braiden.

Allan possessed a great passion for coaching. Be it baseball, softball, tennis or bowling, his expert mentorship instilled everyone with a love of competition and a true understanding of sportsmanship. His always positive attitude and warm smile will be missed by many.

As Allan wished to not have a public funeral, a private graveside service will be held at a later date. A memorial celebration will be held at Stardust Lanes in Walla Walla on Saturday, March 15, from 1-3 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Allan's name to either the Life Care Center of Richland or the American Diabetes Association.

  • My fondest memories of you will always be of the trips we used to take together, whether they were business trips while you were still working for Lever Brothers, or any of the countless softball tournaments following Sherri or Janelle’s softball teams. No matter what else was going on, you always made time for me. I love you.

  • Uncle Allan you will be truly missed but never forgotten. I remember spending weekends over at the house with Ambrea and going ice skating every Friday night with the girls. I remember learning to swim in the pool we all thought was huge. Lol. We all had great times and memories with you and they will live on as we remember and tell the stories. I love you.

To Sherri, Ambrea, and Scott your dad was an amazing man, uncle, and father. I’m very sorry for your loss love you guys very much.

  • Only a man of his character can shoot a guy straight saying i didnt like you at first but im proud your my friend and son. Nobody has ever said more positive things to me and kept faith in me, to the very end also adding a chuckle and “were two peas in a pod”. If his grandson isnt reason enough to be happy i ever met Ambrea, then the other is it brought Allan into my life which i couldnt ever imagine life having not known him. Keeping the faith as promised dad you know what that means and hope your enjoying some applebees and a football game with all the other angels. Love you forever dad :
