Visavakone Marong

Visa passed away March 4, 2014 at St. Peter Hospital in Olympia, WA. She was born Visavakone Detsadachanh on December 30, 1978 in Laos, the youngest of 8 children. In 1981 her family escaped Laos to eventually raise their family in Kennewick, WA. She graduated from Kennewick High and Washington State University. While at WSU, she met her best friend and future husband, Serign Marong. They moved to Seattle and married, and were currently making their home in Olympia with their two sons Alieu and Tairu. Visa was an incredible mother, wife, daughter, sister, auntie and friend. She was taken from us suddenly and entirely too soon. Visa lived life to the fullest and her vibrant soul will continue on through her unconditional love for her family and friends. She loved cooking Lao food for everyone, cheering on her Cougs and spending quality time with her boys. She will always be remembered for her kind heart and infectious personality. She touched so many with her acts of love and selflessness. Visa is survived by her husband, Serign Marong and her two young boys Alieu and Tairu, who were her whole life; her parents Khampheut and Khamva Detsadachanh; her 5 sisters, a brother, and a total of 20 beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one brother.

  • We send our condolences and prayers to your family in these very sad times. It’s so very heart-breaking to lose such a wonderful person in your family at such a young age and we know personally of your heart-break and pain. I remember what a sweet and beautiful person Visa is and was. May your family have some peace in knowing that she is with family and friends who will lovingly care for her in heaven. Serign, the boys and family will be in our prayers. Sincerely, Neenon and Simon Chiu
