Richard T. Brodaczynski, age 75, died on September 6th, at Hospice House in Kennewick, after a two year battle with cancer. Richard or Brodie as he was known to friends and co-workers was born January 28, 1939, in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin to Edwin and Barbara Orlowski Brodaczynski, the seventh of seven children. The family moved to Richland in 1945 where Richard attended local schools graduating in 1956 from Richland's Columbia High School. After high school he attended DeVry Technical Institute in Chicago, returning to the area to work for Bell Telephone Company before joining General Electric in 1959. In Nov. of 1961 Richard was inducted into the U.S. Army where he served for 2 years returning to work with GE and eventually transferring to Battelle where he was an Instrument Specialist until retiring in 1995.

In 1968 Richard married Gwen, his wife of 46 years, and adopted her 4 children. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Raymond, Daniel, Edwin and Eugene. He is survived by sisters, Barbara Brodaczynski and Theresa Deschane; his wife, Gwen; son, David; daughters, Denise, Dianna and Deborah; granddaughter, Danielle; grandson, Christian; two great grandchildren Calaya and Ramsey; numerous nieces and nephews and his beloved dog, Kinzie.

A Memorial Mass will be held Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at 11 AM at Christ the King Catholic Church in Richland. Inurnment of ashes will follow at Sunset Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of the Chaplaincy.
