Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this time. I always enjoyed his sense of humor and the way he made me feel like part of the family.

As an Ops instructor, I met Mel at WNP-2 many years ago. A great guy to work with and even more fun to entertain with. My wife and I shared time with Mel and Sandra at several local restaurants, as well as many “get togethers” at their house.
One of the best spoofs we pulled on Mel was when several of us instructors met Mel and wife at a local pizza shop to celebrate his birthday. You will recall that Mel kept his head “clean shaven”. So, we all donned skull caps for the bald effect, and if I recall correctly, added glasses and beards to add to the show. When he saw us enter the shop, his facial expression was classical. I don’t think any of us will forget the looks (especially the patrons who probably thought we were after the cash register).
I will miss you, my friend!

My heart felt sympathy to Sandy, Zane & Cheryl , Roy & Jane and to all the Grand kids great & grand-daughter . Mel & Sandy & I were neighbor’s for over twenty years set up our homes at the same time he was a great and fun neighbor to have always could count on him if help was needed usually some interesting & fun conversation to go along with the help. He will be missed but I know he will be remembered fondly as a fine family man, husband, father, grandpa and for me a great neighbor.
