Jeffrey "Jeff" Robert DeMeyer
In loving memory and with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, brother, uncle and friend to everyone he met. Jeff is free of the bonds of earth and safe in Heaven.
Jeff was born in Superior, WI to Henry and Betty DeMeyer. The family moved to Richland, WA when he was 2 years old. He graduated from Columbia High School in 1962. He met and married Cathy Blaine DeMeyer in 1964 and they raised 3 children: Shawna, Julie and Chad. Jeff worked at Boise Cascade in Wallula, WA and had many friends.
He was a softball coach for the girls and he loved it. Jeff also was on the planning committee for the Class of 62’ for the 50th reunion.
He was preceded on death by his parents; sister, Judy; nephew, Phillip; and his son, Scott.
Jeff is survived by his wife of 50 years, Cathy DeMeyer; his children: Shawna, Julie and Chad; his sisters: Mary Lou Gnoza and Kathy Hodges; his brother, Steve DeMeyer; and numerous nieces nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, December 6, 2014 from 2-4 pm at Events at Sunset; 915 Bypass HWY, Richland, WA.
Good-bye Papa, until we me meet again. We will always love and miss you every day.
Jeff was a big part of our 1962 class–he knew so much about our class members and kept us in touch. It was so fitting that Jeff was presented with a special plaque from our class of ’62 for his dedication and hard work over many years. When Jerry Free & I moved to Seattle in 1964 we crashed @ Jeff’s & Jim Heaton’s apartment, and later attended his & Cathy’s wedding. We are diminished.
Dear Steve;
So very sorry to hear about your brother Jeff.
You and your Family are in my Prayers.
May God Bless & Keep your Family Safe.
Deepest Sympathy’s
Pam EHINGER Edinger ’67
I have fond memories of Jeff from high school, church, and class reunions. He was a dedicated friend. Condolences to his family. He was a survivor.
RIP Jeff we had great times and laughs in school and even wilder times in Seattle. You were always a friendly face, upbeat and a usual sight in our neighborhood “tooling around” in your motorized chair. We will miss you.
Jeff will be missed, he was a big part of the “glue” that held the class of ’62 in touch all these years. My fondest memory is from the 8th grade, Mr. Duntons Chorus class. “Love Me Tender” Jeff. Lyndy
