Ruth Anne Ward McCall, 91, of Pasco, WA died on Friday, January 30, 2015, surrounded by loving family members at Kadlec Medical Center from complications of pneumonia.  Ruth was born on October 22, 1923 to Leander Barry Ward and Bessie Drusilla King Ward in Rupert, Idaho.  She grew up in Rupert with her siblings Evelyn, Charles, Dorothy, Grace and Michael.  She graduated from Minidoka High School in 1941 and married her beloved husband, Warren William McCall on August 20, 1942.  They were blessed with five children, Allen, Kenneth, Marilyn, David and Jonathon. 

After Warren enlisted in the Army Air Corps during WWII, Ruth followed him to as many different bases as she could.  While Warren served overseas, she worked at the Internal Revenue Service, the Army Finance Office and then the Army Supply Depot.  After the war they returned to Idaho and began their family.  When Columbia Basin Irrigation Project was opened in 1955, Warren and Ruth moved to Washington teaming up with Warren’s brother Robert, to establish a family farm north of Pasco.  She worked as a cook at Edwin Markham Grade School for several years before Jonathon was born and was secretary for College View Baptist Church for many years. 

She was an exceptional partner for Warren during their 72 years of marriage, giving her family a beautiful role model.  Ruth worked hard to make their home a special place for her children.  She was a supportive mom who encouraged her family to participate in activities and to work hard in school.  Ruth enjoyed her friends and shared many meals with them, even when there was not much to share.  Her delicious pies and rolls were a favorite family treat.  She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, reading, Bible study, bird watching, and gardening.  Ruth was a woman of strong faith and was a founding member of College View Baptist Church and the Neighborhood Ladies Club.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, siblings Charles, Evelyn, Dorothy and Michael.  She is survived by her husband, Warren, her sister Grace, and children Allen (Betty Anne) of Seattle, Kenneth (Janice) of Pasco, Marilyn (Gary) Craft of Boulder, Montana, David (Ruth) of Camas and Jonathon (Jodi) of West Richland. She had 15 grandchildren:  Ilana, Kevin (Julie), Kristin, Jeremy (Erin), Holly (Jeff), Katrina (Brad), Brandon (Melissa), Ben (Emily), Joshua, Daniel, Matthew, Christopher, Caleb, Levi, and Hannah.  She also had 12 great-grandchildren:  Wesley, Drew, Allison, Annabelle, Thomas, Genevieve, Alaric, Isaac, Elias, Daniel, Andrew and Luella.  She truly loved her numerous family members and was cherished by them.

Through her humble, quiet spirit she forged a faith and family legacy that will last forever, passing on her love of the Lord to her children and grandchildren.

A celebration of Ruth’s life is planned for Saturday, May 9, 2015 at Country Christian Church.
