Hardy Leland Christensen, often called “Chris”, passed away on May 3, 2015 in his home in Richland, Washington. He left this world peacefully at the age of 95, attended by his family.

Hardy was born August 27, 1919 in Bear River City, Utah, to Joseph and Carrie Christensen. He was raised on a farm with four brothers and three sisters.

During World War II and the Korean War he served in the US Army Corps of Engineers. When he returned home in 1946 he married Lueen Burns. They were sealed in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. They lived in Bountiful, Utah, and became the parents of four children: Tami, Randy, Kirk, and Cindy.

One of his careers was at the Hill Air Force Base as a civil engineer. He also oversaw the building of dams, missile silos, and housing projects.

He enjoyed 50 years of marriage to Lueen before she passed away. In 1996 he married Elaine Martini.  Together they served an LDS mission in Wyoming. Hardy later served another mission in St. George, Utah. Hardy and Elaine enjoyed 20 years of loving companionship.

Hardy is survived by his wife, Elaine, his four children, Tami, Randy (Chris), Kirk (Cindy), Cindy (Dan), 9 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren, four step-children David (Terri), Jan, Robin (Jeff), and Liz, 9 Step grandchildren, 2 sisters and 1 brother.

Hardy was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Lueen, 3 brothers and 1 sister.

His viewing will be held Wednesday May 6, 2015 at 10am and the memorial service will be at 11am in the LDS church at 1321 Jadwin Avenue, Richland, Washington.  Burial will take place Saturday, May 9, in Fielding, Utah.

Hardy was blessed with the love of two families.
