Derlin William Horne, retired Senior Chem-Technologist Lab Leader at Hanford Works, and longtime resident of 67 years in Richland Washington, passed away peacefully in his sleep early Monday morning July 13th of natural causes.
He is predeceased by his parents, Vernell Lawrence Horne and Leah Bingham Horne, brothers Lawrence, Morris, Oral, and a sister Venice Attwood.
Derlin is survived by a brother Gene, sisters, Velda Ridgeway, and Ardis Leavitt. He is also survived by his wife and sweetheart of 67 years, Evah H Horne, three sons, Lawrence (Larry, John, Duane, and a daughter Shelly (Horne) Mann, 19 grandchildren and 56 great grandchildren.
He served faithfully in many callings in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and especially enjoyed serving in the Columbia River Temple. Derlin and Evah were married on March 31, 1948 and sealed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple in Salt Lake City Utah.
Public viewing will be held Friday July 24th, from 6-8pm at Events at Sunset in Richland Washington. Services will be held Saturday July 25th at 11am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter- Day Saints at 1321 Jadwin Ave, Richland Washington.
The family has requested in lieu of flowers, that donations be made to the Alzheimers Foundation.

Memories of you and your family came flooding back from our
working days at JC Penney’s in Richland, 1959-1962. For me beginning with Bina in stock room and ending up in the office
with Lucille and Thelma.
What a long and beautiful life you’ve had with your special Derlin. And now you will continue to enjoy your cherished family and receive much comfort and love.
Carl and I retired to Bellingham in 2008 where my sister Jeanie and her two daughters were living. Jeanie lost her husband in 1995. Jeanie is now into very much ‘short term memory’ and going the way our mom went with Alzheimer.
Hard to watch as she’s three years younger than me.

Dear Uncle Derlin, we will all miss you greatly, you were a very sweet and loving person, however I do know that the Lord will have a great and wonderful Angel in heaven now. God Bless you and your family, love your Nephew Roger.
I am so sorry you have lost your Dad and Grandpa. He was a very sweet man and he and Evah were always so kind and gracious when I saw them. My sympathy to you all—Anne, Duane, Chris, and AJ.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you as you grieve the loss of your Dad. We’re sure the support of your friends and family will be of great comfort. We are sorry that we can’t be there with you.

I’m deeply saddened to hear about his passing . he was one of my favorite sunday school teachers. and I will never forget how kind he was . rest in peace brother Horne!
