Elizabeth Roddy
Elizabeth Mary (Ghormley) Roddy, 64, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully due to cardiac arrest at her daughter’s home in Pasco on July 6, 2015. She was on her way to beating Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia after already successfully completing several months of treatment.
She was born in Spokane, WA on May 1, 1951, to Harry and Ruth Ghormley. Her family moved to Kennewick when she was five and spent the rest of her formative years in the Tri-Cities. She met and married the love of her life and best friend, Richard W. Roddy. They would have been married for 40 years on July 19.
She was a nurse for 40 years. After working as an LPN for many years, she went back to school and became a Registered Nurse in 1995. She worked at the Kadlec Birth Center for 24 years welcoming many babies into the world. Each child was special to her.
She loved to express herself through music and was involved in Ye Merrie Greenwood Players and local theater.
Elizabeth is survived by her husband Richard W. Roddy, brother William Ghormley (Patricia) of Salem, OR, children Katherine Torelli (Solomon) of Richland, Miriam Littleton (Michael) of Pasco, John Roddy of Richland, Colleen Roddy of Pasco, and Robert Roddy of Richland, as well as grandchildren and honorary grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and brothers- and sisters-in-law.
Viewing will be at Einan’s at Sunset Funeral Home in Richland from 7pm-9pm on Thursday July 9. The graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, July 10 at Sunset Gardens, followed by a memorial service at 4 p.m. at Kennewick First Presbyterian Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Kennewick First Presbyterian Church, the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, the Mid-Columbia Ballet, or Ye Merrie Greenwood Players.

Beth I so appreciated yor warmth and compassion and loving my baby whether she had an extra chromosome or not! You are a true lover and a passionate caregiver in all you do and all you have touched. I will cherish all i got from you in my heart always. You will be truly missed and are a saint.
Betty was one of the sweetest people I ever knew. We were in Sunday school together and attended summer camp together in junior high. It sounds like she had a well deserved blessed life and a wonderful family who miss her dearly. So sorry for your loss.
We were heartbroken to learn of Beth’s passing. She was the sweetest mom & proudest grandma. Her family meant the world to her as I know she meant the world to her family. We are so sorry for your loss and are sending all our love & prayers.

We are so sorry to hear about Beth’s passing. We first met her at my parents’ 50th wedding anniversary and a few times after when she and Richard came to visit my parents in Sacramento. Unfortunately, we were unable to meet up on their last visit. Beth was a wonderful person and will be sorely missed. Our condolences to your entire family.
I had the pleasure of getting to know Beth when I worked at the Kadlec Birth Center. She was always pleasant and very kind to everyone she was around. My memories of her were that she loved her family dearly. So sorry for your loss.
Beth was such a loving woman. We loved our times camping with her and Rick. And our family will be forever grateful to her for the calming care she provided when our daughter and granddaughters were going through a difficult childbirth process. Much love and prayers to her loved ones. She is and will continue to be so very missed.

I just happen to run across this obit, while I was writing on Someone Else’s. I’m So Sorry For Her Passing! I remember Elizabeth, about 28 years ago, as an “LPN” working at Kadlec…Wonderful Nurse!!! My Oldest Son was sick often, & She took GREAT CARE of Him as a Young Child!!! He is Healthy As A Horse, Now…Married with a Son of His Own!!!
