Joan Hinkle
Joan Louise Hinkle (Campbell), 76, of Richland, Washington, passed away at Kadlec Medical Center in Richland on the morning of August 21, 2015. Joan, known better as Jo, was born on December 16, 1938 in Stratton, Nebraska.
Her parents moved her and her two brothers from rural Nebraska to Washington in 1947 when her father started working at Hanford as a nuclear operator. She attended Marcus Whitman Elementary, Carmichael Junior High School, and graduated from Columbia High School in Richland in 1957.
Jo married her high school sweetheart and gave birth to two children. After her family, one of her biggest loves in life were her animals and she had many pets over the years. Jo had countless dogs in her lifetime and bred and raised wirehaired terriers. After raising her children, she became a certified nursing assistant and worked at a nursing home.
Following her and her husband’s retirement, Jo stayed active helping with her husband’s activities as a Freemason and Shriner. She enjoyed watching her grandchildren grow up and had the privilege to meet her first four great-grandchildren.
Jo’s family would like to thank all of their family and friends for their loving support during this difficult time.
Jo was survived by husband of 59 years, Gary Hinkle; son, Robert Hinkle; brother, Rush Campbell and wife Donna; brother, John Campbell and wife Marilyn; son-in-law, James Millbauer; grandson, Matthew Millbauer and wife Emma; grandson Jacob Millbauer and wife Jennifer; granddaughter Michelle Millbauer and fiancé Matthew Staudenmaier; great-grandchildren, Leila, Carson, Grant, and Landon; nephew, Scott Campbell; nephew, Brett Campbell and wife Shauna; nephew Christopher Campbell and wife Laura; niece, Amy Campbell; and seven great-nieces and great-nephews. Jo was preceded in death by her daughter, Molly Millbauer (Hinkle) and her parents, Charles and Bertha Campbell.
Funeral services will be held at Events at Sunset at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 27th with graveside services at Sunset Gardens to follow. All are welcome to attend.

Gary, Bob, the Millbauer & Campbell families. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. I can’t help but imagine what it will be like for Jo to see Molly, her Mom & Dad, and many others she’s loved….including her dogs. I’m hoping it is every bit as amazing as we have ever imagined Heaven.
