Fay A. Lyon 

Fay Lyon was born July 23, 1941 in Harbor Beach, Michigan, to Liakim and Mary Agnes (Carrick) Lyon and passed away on Sept 15, 2015 at Kadlec Regional Medical Center in Richland, WA after battling MDS for over a year. 

Fay graduated from high school in Harbor Beach in 1960 and joined the USAF shortly thereafter.  He served as an Aircraft Fuel Systems Mechanic during most of his career.  He served tours in Elmendorf AFB in Alaska, Selfridge AFB in Michigan, Hahn AFB in Germany, Offitt AFB in Nebraska, Clark AFB in the Philippines, Hill AFB in Utah, Da Nang AFB in Vietnam as well as many TDYs including Korea, Iran and many others.

He met his wife of 41 years, Carolyn Carmann, in Nebraska, where they were married on March 30, 1974.  They were then stationed in the Philippines where their first daughter was born and subsequently in Utah. While in Utah, Fay and Carolyn were blessed with a daughter and a son. After retiring from the USAF in 1981, the now family of four, moved back to Nebraska where Fay worked for Lammers Land Leveling, and later the Nebraska State Department of Roads.  He retired from there when they decided to move to Kennewick, WA in 1992. 

Fay was very involved in many organizations and held positions in each.  The Disabled American Veterans positions held were, Adjutant local Chapter 46 for sixteen years, WA State Commander and National Executive Committee Dist 19.  The Veterans of Foreign Wars, VFW Post 7952 (most recently being the VFW Honor Guard Commander), The Richland Rod and Gun Club, and Redeemer Lutheran Church (Business Trustee, Head Trustee, Vice Chairman and Chairman of the church and Men’s Club). 

Fay loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing with his “buddies” or just sitting around the campfire telling stories.  Most people didn’t know, but Fay had a love for photography, that was created during his time in the Air Force.  He continued his pursuit of photography throughout his life.  The daily comic section and his morning crossword puzzles where staples in his daily routine. He collected Eagles and loved their majestic stature as a symbol of the great country he served.         

Fay was preceded in death by his parents, Liakim and Mary Agnes Lyon; his infant sister, and his firstborn baby girl, Lynn Marie.  Fay is survived by his Wife - Carolyn Lyon; Daughter – Misty Lyon, her son Colton Lyon, Fay’s one and only favorite grandson and his Son – Mark Lyon and wife Andrea.

Services will be held on Saturday, September 26, 2015 at 1:00pm at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 520 Thayer Drive, Richland, WA.  The VFW Honor Guard Post 7952 will present Military Honors on church grounds after the service.   Services will be followed with a celebration of Life in the fellowship hall at Redeemer.  Graveside services will be held at a date to be determined in Nebraska where he will be laid to rest next to his daughter and Mother.
