Lillian (Leocadia) Johnson (Homicz) aged 95 died peacefully of natural cause in the arms of family in Richland, Washington on September 7, 2015.  She was born in her family home in Langeloth, Pennsylvania on May 18, 1920.  She was the daughter of Peter and Pauline (Kaniewski) Homicz, her father was born in Lithuania and her mother in Poland.

Lillian was blessed by only having the very happiest of memories of her childhood in both Ambridge and Erie Pennsylvania.  She graduated from East High School in 1939.  During the 1940’s she worked at both the Hammermill Paper Company and the General Electric Company.  Shortly after WW11 she met Walter Johnson, a returned US Army Air Corp Combat Veteran and on their first date they went to a Vaughn Monroe Big Band Concert in Erie.  They married in 1947 and spent 47 years together before Walter died in 1995.

Lillian was preceded in death by her older brother Bernard and wife Mary (Buszek), younger sister Genevieve (Jean) and her husband Tony (Sabol).  Her youngest sister Dorothy is now living in Utah.

Lillian and Walter had four children.  Paul married to Lindy with daughters Hannah and Clare living in New South Wales, Australia.  Marilyn, living in Erie and her son Brian married to Laurie and their two sons Bradley and Brandon living in Peoria Arizona.  Ellen, living in Richland, Washington and her daughter Megan and husband Stephen and children Mikael and Shayli living in Richland and Ellen’s son Kevin (US Navy) married to Whitney and their son Dalton living in Virginia Beach Virginia.  The youngest son David is now living in Apache Junction, Arizona.

Lillian is also survived by many wonderful nieces and nephews and their families living in Erie.  In Erie Lillian was a member of St Casmir, St Annes, St Andrews and St George RC Churches.  She worked for JCPenneys during the 1970’s.  Lillian’s life in Erie involved frequent fun family get together, especially at Easter, Thanksgiving and the beloved Christmas Eve Wigilia where all the extended family would break oplatek (Christmas wafers) and hug, kiss and wish each other love and happiness.  She didn’t enjoy cooking except when she made the best pierogies, kluski and golumpki which are all very much missed.

Funeral arrangements will be private in Richland Washington.  Later in the year there will be a family memorial ceremony.  Lillian will be interred with her husband at the Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery in Erie.
