Jesus Loves Me…

Richard left his wheels behind and is now running in Heaven! On Wednesday September 30^th Richard passed away at his home in Richland. He was the youngest of six siblings and was born in Spokane WA on March 19, 1959. He grew up in Richland and Benton City. In 1971 Richard was in an accident that left him in a wheelchair but did not slow him down and he was active his entire life.

He was a retired drafter, previously working for Boeing in Everett. Richard was an avid reader and collector of books, coins, comic books, and harmonics. He enjoyed playing the harmonica and was self-taught, which was a work in progress, and enjoyed playing wheelchair basketball when he was younger. He was a member of and volunteer for Friends of the Richland Library, Olympia Beatniks Car Club and earned his Mall Walkers 100 Club badge, while accompanying his mom during her walks.

Richard loved when the Stordahl clan got together for holidays, and barbeques playing cribbage, pinochle, and of course marbles. Some of the fondest times were spent at his parents’ house around the pool with his siblings and many nieces and nephews. He wouldn’t say no to a trip to a casino and was pretty lucky. Richard accompanied his mom on several trips the last one cross country to Civil War Battle Fields.

Greeting him in Heaven were his dad, Wesley D. Stordahl; brother, Steven F. Stordahl; and great niece Rosie. Richard is survived by his mom, Dolores Stordahl; brothers: Wayne (Kathy), Mike (Carol); sisters: Patricia and Deborah Holt (Timothy Elsasser). Also surviving Richard are 14 nieces and nephews, 18 great-nieces and nephews and a great-great niece and nephew.

Celebration of Richards Life will be at Events at Sunset, 915 Bypass Hwy Richland, WA, Sunday, October 11^th at 1:30pm.
