“Trey” Eugene Franklin Scott III

On September 17, 2015, Trey Scott, 22, of West Richland, WA passed peacefully from the arms of his family to those of his heavenly father.  His wings were ready, but our hearts were not.

Trey was diagnosed with Pulmonary Hypertension at the age of 3. Although the prognosis was difficult, he was never discouraged. Instead, he chose to live a life of faith and service to others.

Trey was instrumental in changing the quality of healthcare, both locally and internationally. At age 11, he worked with the Kadlec Foundation to start the Teddy Bear Auxiliary – a program which focuses on raising money and awareness for better pediatric care and facilities for local children. Trey was nominated as Patient of Year by Actelion (Bayer) Pharmaceuticals; which highlighted his charity work while battling PH. Trey was also honored by the Seattle Mariners for his charity work and threw out the first pitch at a Mariners/Boston game.

Trey and his family spent 4 months a year over 9 years volunteering for Starlight Children’s Foundation’s October event for kids with life-threatening illnesses in the Pacific Northwest area. He volunteered as a mentor and counselor at the Beats and Rhythms Camp for cardiac kids. In 2014, Trey was honored internationally and was asked to share his life story with 13 hospitals in Saudi Arabia via videoconferencing.

Trey graduated from Richland High in 2012, just a few months after receiving a double lung transplant.  He was grateful to everyone at Richland High who helped him achieve his dream of graduating as a Bomber. He received a National Best Buy Scholarship for his charity work, and went onto attend WSU tri-cities, where he studied Engineering.  Trey was deeply loved by his family and friends, but most of all by his niece and best buddy Hannah.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Trey Scott Memorial Scholarship Fund (wwww.gofundme.com/TreyScott); a fund for students battling life threatening illnesses. The family would like to continue Trey’s wish to help other pediatric patients succeed, and the Fund will go towards these efforts.  A memorial service will be held Saturday, October 10^th at 2pm at Einans Event Center. Following the service, there will be time set aside for sharing and remembering Trey’s wonderful spirit. The family asks that you honor Trey by wearing orange, tie-dye, Star Wars, Harley Davidson, Avengers or Dr. Who clothing.
