Joanne “Jo” F. Bowman
Jo is going home for Christmas. Jo will be face to face with Jesus as we celebrate his birth and this gift will be worth more to her than anything on earth.
Joanne Bowman loving wife of Leo Bowman passed away December 26, 2015 at Hospice at the Chaplaincy in Kennewick WA.
She was born in Lewiston, Idaho on February 18, 1934 to Antonio (TA) and Concetta Cozza Piraino. She was raised in North Lewiston, and was the youngest of 3 sisters and 2 brothers, Effie, Mafalda, Esther, Bernard and Junior, all who have preceded her in death.
Her career path started as a young girl working for her father’s diner in Lewiston. As time went on she began working as a meat wrapper. In 1963 she married Leo Bowman and moved to Spokane, WA where they lived for 6 years.
In 1969 the family moved to the Tri-Cities where she continued her career as a meat wrapper until she discovered Golf. Jo was an avid golfer and worked for the Tri-City Country Club in the Pro shop, which she enjoyed immensely. One of her great thrills in life was her 5 holes in one!
Jo was very energetic and adventurous; she enjoyed women’s fast pitch softball, bowling and golf. She earned a green belt in judo and later on, was a Tai Chi enthusiast. Zip Lining was a favorite adventure of hers.
Jo was loved by many friends. She had a life time dream trip to Italy where she made a pilgrimage back to her parents’ birth place.
She loved to socialize, especially “cousin’s weekend” where she attended Broadway plays and shopped until she dropped, always making a stop to a Christmas store.
Jo loved crafting, embroidering, quilling, card making and decorating. Her talents showed thru especially at Christmas time with a beautifully decorated home with every room down to the bow on every gorgeous package with a different color scheme every year.
Jo was a devoted member of Christ the King Church and was a member of YLI.
Mom was our angel on earth; her sweet loving, caring gentle nature was a blessing to all of us. She was the Matriarch of our family. She is survived by her husband, Leo Bowman; her children: Mary (Ray) Anderson, Vanessa (Jeff) Romig, Jay (Linda) Bowman and Shellie (Hoyt) Harvel. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Jeremy Anderson, Anthony (Kristi) Harris, Jessica (Michael) Rowe, Tyler (Laura) Harris, Stephanie (Kolby) Carver and Courtney (Ben) Bowman.
Her most precious treasures are her great-grandchildren. They always brought joy to her eyes, smiles to her face and laughter to her heart. Her great-grandchildren are: Josh and Haley Harris, Noah and Caleb Rowe, Charlie and Neva Carver and Maxwell Yost.
Visitation and Rosary will be at Christ the King on Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Memorial Services will be held at Christ the King on December 31, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. There will be a police escorted procession to Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Donations may be made to Safe Harbor Crisis Center and Hospice at the Chaplaincy in Kennewick WA.
God gave our loving Nanny her wings and she flew home to heaven. She left this world in the most beautiful and peaceful way a person can leave, with her heart full and her family by her side. She will be greatly missed but our memories will last forever.
To your family: I am so sorry to see the passing of Jo as I knew her since playing softball with her . I pray for comfort, strength at this difficult time. She was a go getter and as I remember her on the field she alway’s had a smile and was very happy doing what she liked.
Our condolences and Prayers to the Bowman family. May God be with you.
sorry for your loss, but Jesus makes it much better. Those of her family remember her with good thoughts of days gone by
Leo and Jay and family, I will keep you all in my prayers and thoughts through this difficult time. I enjoyed my interactions with Jo, she was very vibrant. I am sorry I missed the services, we left town the day after Christmas and did not return until New Years. So sorry for you loss.

Dear Leo and family,
We were sad to read this in the paper today. Our condolences to you and your family. I believe the last time we were together was at the family reunion in Coeur d’Alene.
Leo & family,
I am so sorry for your loss. Even though Jo is at peace now and no longer suffering her death is still hard for those still living. You & yours are in my prayers and thoughts.
