Lois Latzko met her Savior face to face on December 13, 2015.  Lois’ life began on November 21, 1920 on the family farm in Round Grove, Indiana.  In 1933 she moved with her parents and older brother, Bob, to Mott, ND where her parents attended chiropractic school.  Lois spent her junior and senior years in Spokane, WA graduating with honors from Rogers High School in 1938. That fall she enrolled at the University of Idaho, graduating in 1942 with a BS in Dietetics.  The following year, Lois enlisted in the Army Air Corps and served as a hospital dietician in Victorville, CA until 1946. In 1947 she met and fell in love with her cousin’s roommate, Pat Latzko, and they were married in June of 1949.  Pat and Lois made their first home in Kendallville, IN and later moved to Spokane, WA.  Lois taught Home Economics at Whitworth College until their first child, James, was born. Four years later, their daughter, Joy, joined the family.  In 1963, the family moved to Richland, WA, where Lois became active in the community judging foods at the fair each summer and serving at the polling booths during elections.  Lois considered it a privilege to serve alongside her church family at First Baptist in Richland, teaching Sunday School, working in Awana, visiting newcomers, serving missionaries, hosting backyard Bible clubs, working in the nursery, and preparing meals both at the church and at summer youth camps.  Lois loved studying God’s Word and praying for those who shared their lives with her.  She will be greatly missed by her many friends and family- her children James (Allene) Latzko and Joy( Kerrick) Bauman, grandchildren Dr. Michael Latzko, Janeane (Dan) Dalton, Carrie (PJ) Millsap, Kyle Bauman, and Katelyn Bauman, and her five great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held in her honor on Wednesday, December 30^th at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Richland, with a graveside service at 1:00 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Gardens.  Memorial gifts may be given to First Baptist Church’s Children’s Ministries.
