Floyd A. Thompson

Floyd Almond Thompson was born in St. Paul, Minnesota on November 23, 1922.  After graduating from high school, he enlisted in the Army Air Force in Texas for three and a half years, and rose to the rank of Staff Sergeant.  During his time in the service, Floyd played both basketball and baseball for military teams.  He returned to St. Paul and married Antoinette Anderson in 1945.  After his discharge from the military, he moved to Washington State, where he worked for 40 years until retirement with Fluor Hanford.  

Floyd was also an active member of Richland Lutheran Church, working with the youth and serving as a deacon, and he continued to play sports - basketball, baseball, and bowling.  He is survived by his brother, Ken Thompson; two sisters-in-law: Carmelita Peterson and Anita Schmidt; his daughter, Elizabeth Dignon; two granddaughters: Shannon Edwards and Andrea Waterstone, and spouses; and three great-grandchildren: Grant Edwards, Eloise Waterstone, and Chase Edwards.

Floyd passed away in Richland, Washington on January 12, 2016. 

A memorial service will be held for him at 2pm on Sunday, January 17, 2016 in the chapel at Richland Lutheran Church.
