Kay Susan Kerbyson was born on January 17^th1967 to Graham and Dorothy Garbett in Bromsgrove, England close to her hometown of Kidderminster. Her early passion was dancing, performing regularly across the country in competitions. She adored Pandas, drank (hot) tea, and keenly interested in cars. After Kidderminster College, Kay studied Mathematics obtaining a Bachelors of Science (First Class Honors) in 1988, and a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Engineering in 1992 both from Warwick University.

 Her first professional appointment was with British Gas, exploring the use of natural gas in car engines that led her into the car industry and in becoming a Chartered Engineer. She ran engine test-beds 24/7 for Rover, optimizing engine designs for BMW in Munich Germany, and returned to England as Manager for Powertrain Strategy for Land Rover. Immigrating to the USA in 2001 brought her to the rural setting of Los Alamos in New Mexico. Her passion for German continued as a freelance technical translator, and for her dancing by becoming a Hilltop Tapper. Kay fulfilled yet another ambition, that of becoming a mother in 2004 and was devoted to her twin daughters, Abby and Hannah.

 Her diagnosis of Ovarian cancer in late 2006 made her a Thriver, a fighter wanting to live every day as best as possible, and an advocate passionate about getting the word out about this terrible disease.

 Through her charity, ovariancancertogether.org, and her numerous writings for papers in New Mexico, Washington, and others, she gave inspiration and hope to many. After moving to West Richland, WA, in 2010, she organized many events including teal-a-tree, teal-to-toe, and lit the cable-bridge over the Columbia River in teal all to raise awareness of Ovarian cancer.

 Kay battled all the way to the end, and was taken from us on October 20^th 2016 at the age of 49. Her family and close friends where nearby. She was dearly loved and will be missed by many.

 We hope that when we lose a loved one here on Earth, we gain an angel to watch over us.
