Jack R. Barger

August 9, 1928 – December 30, 2016

Jack R. Barger of Kennewick, WA, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, December 30, 2016.

He was born in Butte, Montana on August 9, 1928, to Robert and Beatrice Barger.  Jack grew up in Montana and graduated from Butte High School.  He married Bethel Brome of Butte in 1946 and soon after enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in the 82nd Airborne Division in Okinawa, Japan.  After his discharge from the Army, he worked in the mines in Butte for a time before going to work for the Milwaukee Railroad, 1948-1963.  In 1963, he hired on with the Montana Power Company and worked in Butte and Missoula for them until December 1967.  At that time, he moved his family west to Kennewick, WA where he was employed by Bonneville Power and worked there until his retirement in the early 90’s. Jack also obtained a pilot license in the 70’s and flew light aircraft for a number of years.

Family and friends knew Jack as a man who “could fix anything”.  He was extremely talented from childhood and created beautiful things for his family that are treasured.  Jack enjoyed telling others about his Savior, Jesus Christ and serving on KOLU Christian radio.  Jack is a long-standing member of Riverview Baptist Church.

After 53 years of marriage, his wife, Bethel passed away in 1999.  The Lord was gracious to him and he found new love and was married to Della Daer in August of 2000 until the time of his death.

His parents, his sister, Yvonne, a stepson Ron Daer, and a stepdaughter Charlie Potter preceded him in death.

Jack is survived by his wife Della Barger of Kennewick, WA, his older brother Robert Barger of Butte, MT, his daughter Susan Hahn and her husband Charley of Polson, MT, his daughter Sheilah Archibald and her husband John of Kennewick, his son Jack W. Barger and his wife Laurie, Kennewick, WA, and his daughter Jennifer Shumate and her husband Michial of Portland, OR, 13 grand children and numerous great-grand children.  Stepdaughter Barbara Isley and her husband Robert also survive him and many step grand, and great grandchildren

A memorial service will be held at the Riverview Baptist Church in Pasco, Washington at 11 AM on January 30, 2017.  Memorials in Jack’s name may be sent to Latin American Ministries and Beyond, The Annabel de Vallejo Home, P.O. Box 3180, Mission, TX 78573
