Lois V. Hoglen, 85, of Richland, Washington, passed away in peace and grace on March 24, 2017, at Kadlec Hospital.  Lois was born September 16, 1931, in West Plains, Missouri to Herbert and Sally Ryan.  She grew up on the family farm with her sisters Sally and Loraine and brothers David and Harvey.  After graduating from high school Lois attended college and earned her teaching degree.  Lois taught in a one room school house where she had to arrive early each morning to start the woodstove to warm the classroom before the children arrived.  Lois met her husband of 46 years at a dance in West Plains.   In 1954 Lois moved to Richland and married the love of her life Norman.  Lois was a free spirit and loving wife and mother.  She not only was a wonderful mother to her own children, but to her nieces and nephews and all the neighborhood children.   If anyone needed anything she was always the first to arrive.  When her children married she accepted her new family members with open arms.  When her grandchildren arrived, her adult children took a backseat.  Her grandchildren now became the center of her life.  Lois taught us all to never hold a grudge and always love one another.  She said “That is what Jesus said and that’s what we should do.”  Lois worked 25 years at HAPO Community Credit Union and was proud to be the first employee to retire.  She loved her job, her coworkers, and all the members.  Lois enjoyed life to the fullest.  She loved to travel with family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Norman and her son Larry.  Lois is survived by her son Richard (Susan) Hoglen, daughter Carol (Larry) Morin, daughter-in-law Kimberly (Dean) Sturdevant, and grandchildren Crystal, Hunter, Nicole, and Ryan.
