Mary Anne Smith-Fewell

Mary Anne was a Christmas gift to Eugene and Dorothy Smith when she (their first child) was born on December 25, 1957 in Los Angeles. CA. She was followed by 4 other children: Eugene (Fred), Robert, Jeannette, and Cynthia. Mary Anne passed away March 3, 2017.

Mary Anne attended school in Southern CA, graduating from Marywood High School, Orange, CA, in 1976, and receiving her BSME degree from UC Irvine in 1980.

After 25 years as an engineer at the Hanford site, she began her new career with the Benton-Franklin Humane Society. She started as a volunteer, was hired to provide customer service and outreach, and eventually became the volunteer and outreach coordinator.

She loved to play music and was a drummer for the Sultana Dancers Belly dance troupe. She was learning to play Celtic harp.

Mary Anne married Clyde James (“C.J.”. “Jim”) Fewell on May 26, 1990, and she gave birth to two children, Robert and Catherine.

She is survived by her children, Robert and Catherine; her mother, Dorothy Smith; her brother’s father, Eugene Smith and Robert Smith; her sisters, Jeannette O’Toole and Cynthia Lampkin and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Eugene Smith.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be to the Tri-Cities Cancer Center Foundation or to the Benton-Franklin Humane Society.

A Celebration of Life for Mary Anne will be held at the Columbia Christian Fellowship Church, 1607 West 1^st Ave, Kennewick, WA on Sunday, March 12, 2017 at 1:30pm with a Graveside Service to follow at Sunset Gardens, 915 ByPass Hwy, Richland, WA at 4:00pm.
