Richard Grant Zanders, age 59, passed away on Wednesday, April 5, 2017 of a Heart Attack in Pembroke, Ontario Canada. He was born on February 15, 1958 in Gulfport, Mississippi. He was a longtime resident of Kennewick, Washington where he lived with his wife/partner of 18 years, Rose. Richard was a Health Physics Technician for the past 35 plus years, the past 3 at BHI Energy. He Spent 4 years in the U.S. Air Force as an Aircraft Analyst.

He is survived by his wife Rose M. Zanders, son Josh Watt, (wife Michelle, daughter Ashlee, son Nolan), daughter Nicole Watt (partner Israel) daughter Jessica Watt (daughters Amirah and Luna), and son Richard Miles (and family). Brother Alvin O’Banner (wife Catherine and family), sister Loretta Zanders (husband Gator and family), sister Thelma Carpenter, brother Frank Zanders (wife Denice and family), brothers Joe Zanders, and Willie Zanders. Many other loving relatives.

Richard graduated from Gulfport High School in 1976 and attended Tougaloo College Tougaloo, Mississippi one of the oldest historically black colleges and universities in the United States. He enjoyed going to the movies, boating, playing chess, Sudoku, crocheting, knitting and just sitting outside smoking a cigar and drinking a good glass of red wine, or sitting around reminiscing with his brothers in Mississippi drinking Crown Royal. In his spare time he also enjoyed reading, and spending time with many friends and family. He had a very kind heart, contagious laugh, quick wit and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

A celebration of Life Service will be held at Einans Event Center, 915 Bypass Highway, Richland, Washington on Friday, April 14, 2017 at 6:00 p.m.

Memorial donations can be made in lieu of flowers to any Cancer Research Program in Richards’s name.
