Eleanor V. Bee

Eleanor V. Bee, 97, of Richland passed away June 14, 2017. She was born in Parkersburg, W. Virginia to Effie and William Bee.

Eleanor grew up and graduated from High School in Parkersburg, W. Virginia. She lived in Charleston, W. Virginia, Cincinnati, Ohio and Washington DC. She took singing lesson as a young adult and auditioned for several productions. She loved to sing and had beautiful voice. She also loved to travel and took many fun vacations. Eleanor came to Richland in early 1950’s and worked at Hanford as a secretary. She left Hanford and returned to Washington DC and Cincinnati, OH where she retired from the Government. She resided in Cincinnati after her retirement. She visited her family in Richland during the Christmas Holidays throughout the years. When her health started to decline she made the decision to be near family and relocated to Richland and resided in an Assisted Living Facility.

Aunt Eleanor was very independent and was to the last days of her life. She had a great sense of humor, keen wit and was loved by all who met her. Our extended family and friends became her family and friends.

She had a smile that would light up a room even the little ones loved signing to her, showing her pictures, dancing for her and just being around her.

She was interested in world affairs with by reading or watching TV. Eleanor loved the Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy. We would discuss the winner after the show was over.

Eleanor is survived by her niece, Sharon (Frank) Burks; great nephews, James (Lorrie) Burks and David Burks; great niece, Shelly (JR) Baker; numerous great-great nieces and nephews and great-great-great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Effie and William Bee, sisters, Marjorie (Howard) Reidmaier, Mildred Bee and Helen (Harry) Carruthers and her brother, James (Juanita) Bee.

Even though she loved the skies, trees, sunshine and being around family in Richland it could never take the place of Cincinnati and the Bengals. She will be missed by each and every one of us.  

 A Celebration of Life will be held at Einan’s at Sunset Chapel on Friday, June 23, 2017 at 2:00pm. Final resting place for Eleanor will be held at the Spring Grove Cemetery in Cincinnati, OH.
