Sara Carr

Sara Ann Carr, age 59, passed away on June 27, 2017 of respiratory complications following a stem cell transplant for lymphoma.  She was born to Francis William Foster and Jessie May McQueen on March 11, 1958 in Ogden, Utah.  Her graceful, gentle and peaceful nature made her a favorite of many of her teachers and childhood friends.  She graduated from Bonneville High School in 1976 and from Brigham Young University in 1979 with a degree in French.  On April 25, 1981, she married Darrell George Carr in the Salt Lake City, Utah temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  After Darrell completed his education, they spent 8 years in southeastern Connecticut before moving to Richland, Washington in 1991 where she continued to raise her children as a wonderful homemaker.  She encouraged her children to pursue educational opportunities and was their biggest cheerleader.

Sara loved to read, quilt, and travel for family vacations.  She loved Disney movies and Disneyland, but her happiest place on earth was with her family.  She had a strong faith in God and devoted many hours to church service. Much of that service was spent teaching and working with the children and youth which brought her great joy.  Her kindness, gentleness and warmth made all around her feel loved and appreciated.  Sara was generous in her time and means her entire life, especially to her family.  She was always there to listen.  Her legacy of love will last forever and she will be dearly missed.

Sara was preceded in death by her father, Francis.  She is survived by her husband, Darrell; her four children, Gretchen, Stephen (Meagan C.), Meagan L. and Jillian Theurer (Michael); her mother, Jessie May; siblings Paula Sallstrom, Phillip and Natalie Lacanienta; and her two grandchildren, Jacqueline and Caleb Theurer.

A viewing will be held on Friday, June 30th from 6:30pm to 8pm at Einan’s Funeral Home. The funeral will take place on Saturday, July 1st at noon at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 1720 Thayer Drive in Richland.  Graveside dedication services at Sunset Memorial Gardens will follow.  In lieu of flowers, consider a donation to the BYU College of Humanities at https://ldsp-pay.ldschurch.org/donations/byu/humanities.html
