Rosalie Libbey Swanson passed away peacefully at her home on July 5^th, surrounded by her husband and children.

She was born March 15, 1930 in Tucson, AZ. She was adopted as an infant by Fay and Rose Libbey. The family lived in or around Phoenix until moving to Portland, OR in 1936. She attended school in Portland, graduated from Catlin Gable School and then attended Reed College.

At Reed she met and married John Swanson who was both her husband and best friend for over 67 years. After John’s graduation in 1951, they moved to Richland, WA where they raised their three children.

Rosalie was very grateful for the privilege of being a stay-at-home wife and mother because she had time to enjoy her family and friends, and to pursue her varied interests as a volunteer.

She is mourned and survived by her husband John; daughter and son-in-law, Libbey and Barry Brunette; son and daughter-in-law, Jack and Lynn Swanson; daughter and son-in-law Susan Swanson and David Forehand; grandson, Waylon Brunette; granddaughter and grandson-in-law Sara and David Rustad; and granddaughter Shelby Swanson. Also mourning her loss are her many friends, especially those who she considered to be extended family- including Diane and Mark McVeigh, Jen and Kyle Becker, and Lorelei Jacobs.

At her request, there will be no services. Those who wish to may contribute to the Tri-City Chaplaincy, Safe Harbor Crisis Nursery or the First Church of Christ, Scientist- Pasco.
