It is with great sadness that the family of Ruth Evelyn Poyner announces her passing on August 28, 2017 at the age of 87.  She was born June 7, 1930 in Lake George, NY to Kenneth and Evelyn Morehouse.

Ruth attended Lake George High School where she participated in sports and Cheerleading.

During her working years, Ruth was a telephone operator in the days before direct dialing, when placing calls required an operator.  She worked for many years for JC Penney and for Wahweap Resort & Marina in Page, AZ as Hostess in the Rainbow Room Restaurant.

Ruth married Ira V. Brecht in 1951 at Paris Island, SC, relocating to Camp Pendleton, CA before settling in Aberdeen, WA.  Together they had 3 sons and 1 daughter.  In 1967, she became a single Mother and returned to the Lake George area in 1969 to raise her 4 children.  In 1983, Ruth and her daughter moved to Page, AZ where she lived until she remarried in 1991 to longtime friend Shedrick (Shed) Poyner of Woodland, WA.  Her final move was to Tri-Cities, WA in 2012 to live near her daughter.

Ruth was a long time Jehovah’s Witness and was deeply involved in her faith.  It was through her faith that she met so many people around the world who loved and will miss her deeply. 

Throughout her years, our Mother enjoyed cooking, travel and the one thing she will surely be remembered for is that she always had a joke to tell.

Ruth is survived by her children – Steve (Sylvie) Brecht of Winter Haven, FL. Kenneth (Deana) Brecht of Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Douglas (Linda) Brecht of Charlestown, NH and Sue (Jerry) Smith of Benton County, WA., her Sister-in-Law Judy Morehouse of Shady Shores, TX, 12 Grandchildren, 21 Great Grandchildren and numerous nephews and nieces.

Ruth was preceded in death by her ex-husband Ira (1980), her husband Shed (2004), sister Eleanor (2007), brother William (2017) and grandson Benjamin (1977).
