Ralph Lloyd Watts, 94, of Richland, WA passed away on September 18, 2017.

He was born in Delta, Utah on February 1, 1923 to Guy and Florence Watts.  His siblings were Wayne and Anna Beth. Ralph’s parents and siblings preceded him in death.

Ralph served in the Navy during World War II. After serving in the Navy, Ralph relocated to Sunnyside, WA to join his family. While in Sunnyside he met and married Arlene Maling. Ralph and Arlene were married on November 2, 1946. They welcomed their son Michael in 1948 and resided in Sunnyside for many years. The family moved to the Tri-Cities in 1955.

Ralph worked at Hanford as a Security Guard for a short time and then worked as a Nuclear Radiation Monitor Technician, retiring in 1986. Ralph enjoyed water skiing, welding projects, metal detecting, playing cribbage with family and friends, watching old western movies and traveling to Arizona in the motorhome for 20 years with Arlene. Ralph was very proud that he was still able to drive the motorhome into his 90’s. Ralph and Arlene spent time attending many of their great grandchildren’s sporting events as well as weekly lunches with their friends at his favorite eating place Old Country Buffet where the servers knew him by name.

Ralph is survived by his wife of 70 years, Arlene, son, Michael (Mary) Watts, grandchildren, Mary Lynn (Mike) Garza, Tim (Annette) Watts, Jason (Stacey) Watts, Michelle (Lance) Fox, great grandchildren, Whitney and Tim (Kaitlyn) Watts, Hannah and Joshua Garza, Brandyn (Brionna), Breanna and Britney Watts, Mackenzie and Madison Fox.

Ralph was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather who enjoyed life to the fullest. We will miss you and will always remember your sense of humor and love for family.

At the request of Ralph, there will be no service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to a charity of your choice. The family wishes to thank Kadlec Medical Center staff for the care they provided to Ralph and his family during this difficult time.
