From Richland, WA | Born in Johnstown, PA

Elaine Korstad

Elaine F. Korstad, 71, went home to heaven on June 16th after a long, courageous battle with breast cancer.  Born in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, Elaine moved to Richland from Ohio in the seventh grade and graduated from Richland High School in 1964.  She worked at Battelle as an administrative assistant for 28 years.

After her retirement in 2002, Elaine devoted herself to her favorite pursuits.  She loved spending time with her grandchildren and family, attending their sporting events, dance performances, and other activities.  She enjoyed socializing and had lots of friends, many who were a source of strength for her during her illness.  She liked collecting and selling antiques, yard sales, and finding a good bargain.  She was known to play the slots on occasion and couldn’t wait to hit the big one.  Christmas was her favorite time of the year, and planning and gift buying would begin many months earlier.  Elaine was a gardener, growing beautiful flowers and a bountiful garden.

Elaine enjoyed life to the fullest.  She had a mischievous twinkle in her eye and loved to play a good practical joke.  She saw the bright side in every situation and could always make you laugh.  She was ready to help anyone at a moment’s notice.

Elaine is survived by her husband Paul Korstad; daughter Janelle Amato (Lance) and grandchildren Jacob, Landon and Olivia Amato; son Ryan Tucker (Lacey) and grandchildren Paizlei and Adilayde Tucker;  step-daughter Krista Baldwin and grandchildren Isabella, Analiese, and Malia Baldwin;  step daughter-in-law Holly Korstad and grandchildren Brennan, Spencer and Sibelle Korstad; brother Eugene Conner (Kahn); and brother Jim Conner (Yolanda).   She is preceded in death by her father Grover Conner, mother Elsie Conner, brother George Conner, and step-son Eric Korstad.

Elaine was a long time member of Central United Protestant Church, and her service will be held there on Sunday, June 24, at 3:00 pm.

Elaine will be greatly missed by family and friends.
