Todd Ferguson

Todd Samuel Ferguson, age 51, was welcomed into eternity on June 4th, 2018 after battling a rare neurological brain disease. He was born two months early on January 15, 1967 to Frank and Diane Ferguson in Bourne, Massachusetts. The timing of his birth and death were not what we would have chosen, but we cherish the gift of his life and the time we had. In spite of the death of his father in the Air Force when he was three months old, he had a happy childhood with his older brother, Daryn, doing the things boys do, earning his Eagle Scout, and spending summers with their grandparents at Camp Sawtooth in Idaho. When his mother remarried and sister, Heather, came along, Todd was in his element. Writing letters home from college or recording stories for her on tape were favorite weekend activities. One of her memories of this time is of a rather large stuffed dog she gave him that Todd proudly kept in his dorm room in spite of nearly needing to pay extra room and board!

After taking a year away from Multnomah School of the Bible in Portland, Oregon to be near his aging grandfather in Idaho, Todd returned for his final year. During choir tours and ensemble performances, eyes twinkled with stolen glances and a “friends only” relationship deepened. On April 8, 1995, Karyl (Kary) N. Hamblen had the honor of becoming Mrs. Todd S. Ferguson. As he surprised Kary during the ceremony by singing “Walk Hand in Hand With Me” to her, he continued his sweet ways of showing his care. One of Kary’s favorite memories is of Todd’s obsession of calling into the radio to win flowers for her. Some of his proudest moments were hearing her name announced…he even tape recorded it! He lived to make others feel special. Becoming a daddy to two girls adopted from China, a biological son, and a son from Thailand was the highlight of his life. He was faithful to take the girls to the Father-Daughter Ball or the boys to project days at The Home Depot. His quiet servanthood leaves a gaping hole in our lives, but we are so proud of the way he lived his life. Well done thou good and faithful servant.

Todd was preceded in death by his father, Frank R. Ferguson; grandfather, Samuel W. Stimple; and two miscarried children. He is survived by his wife, Kary; children, Hannah (Austen) Richards, Audrey, Caleb and Joey Ferguson; mother, Diane, and step-father, James Cheshire; brother, Daryn Ferguson; sister, Heather (Aaron) Poff; grandmother, Helen Stimple; loving in-laws and many extended aunts, uncles, nieces, nephew, and cousins. Services will be held on June 16th, 2018. Viewing and graveside burial will be held at Einan’s at Sunset at 10:00 AM and 11:00 AM respectively.

The memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church in Richland (1107 Wright Ave.) at 2:00 PM with reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to CurePSP: Unlocking the Secrets of Brain Disease (www.psp.org).

  • I am so honored to have had the pleasure to have met Todd, I will never forget watching the Eclipse with him and how he smiled while playing Bingo. Kary and their children were always a pleasure to see, and the love they all had for each other.

  • Todd was an exceptionally kind and special person, and though I knew him a short time he and his beautiful family have left a lasting impression on my heart. I am deeply saddened by his loss.

  • Sometimes we cross paths with people, never knowing where it will lead…The Ferguson family came into my life by way of a fur-baby. Soon the entire family entered my life, and what a joy it has been. I will miss Todd, but I am thankful that I was lucky enough to share time with him-be it all to short of time.

  • I was Toods and Daryns Scoutmaster . There are always some Scouts that stand out and Todd and Daryn are my all time favorites! They worked as a team and we’re always the first to volunteer to do task or help me or another Scout. We had several great trips together that I have wonderful memories of. Their Eagle Scout ceremonies were special and mean as much to me as my own boys.
