Stanley Owsley
Stanley Leroy Owsley, born December 23, 1935 in Yakima, WA to Guy and Mildred (Ferguson) Owsley, passed August 15, 2018. Stan was raised in Sunnyside and married his high school sweetheart. After getting married, he spent four years in the air force. The rest of his life he spent designing and building mechanical equipment of all types. He designed and built the one and only mobile mint still. He owned and operated Owsley Mfg in Grandview for 12+ years. This business was known for its high quality work and ability to develop new cutting edge agricultural equipment.
Stan loved auto racing and kart racing. Throughout life he was always tinkering or working on cars to see how he could make them faster. He was a diehard NASCAR fan to the day he passed. He spent many years mechanicing and building engines for kart racing. He received many accolades in kart racing. Winning several mechanic of the year awards, building engines to compete at national levels, and winning a national championship.
Stan is survived by his wife of 63 years Joyce, sisters Donita Wathen, Jean Owsley, and Jan Lehmann; daughters Terri (Owsley) & Dave Ragsdale and Teddi (Owsley) Greene, son, Stan Jr & Linda (Rhynard) Owsley. He is also survived by his 5 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by parents Guy and Mildred (Ferguson) Owsley, brother, Gale, and daughter Trisha (Owsley) Lanman.
