Donald Decker
Donald M. Decker, 91 years of age (1927-2018) passed away Wednesday October 31, 2018. Don was born on July 29, 1927 in Havana, ND to Matt and Muriel Decker. He was third of eight children. Donald was preceded in death by his wife Leona, brothers Earl and Mathias; his sisters Rose Ellen, Beverly and Betty. Donald is survived by his son Mark, daughter Debbie, sister Verona and his brother, Duane, along with many nieces and nephews.
He graduated from Bemidji High School in Minnesota in 1946 and joined the Army Air Force. He served in Germany where he worked with a veterinarian. He really enjoyed his work. After returning home he received a diploma as an electrician from Dunwoody Institute in Minneapolis, MN. He married Leona in 1950 and had two children Debbie and Mark. In 1956, he moved to Richland, WA where he worked with General Electric and Battelle until retirement.
Don was active in the Catholic Church. He was an Oblate of St. Benedict, and a Eucharistic Minister. His charitable works were with the Knights of Columbus (4th Degree), and KC Help.
He was also a Boy Scout Leader and loved hiking and camping in the Cascades.
He loved joining his friends at the Spudnut Shop.
His rosary (10 am) and memorial service (11 am) will be at Christ the King on January 26.
A special Thank You to the Tri-Cities Hospice and the Brookdale Senior Living off of Torbett in Richland in caring for Donald.
