Susan Louise Renz
Susan L. (Shaw) Renz Age 60, of Benton City lost her battle with pancreatic cancer in her home Friday, April 26th, 2019. She was born in Kennewick to Bernie and Marlene Shaw on Sept 7th, 1958 as the second of three children. Susan spent her life in Tri-Cities, Washington; she was married to Timothy W. Renz for sixteen years, raised their children and her horses, worked for Hanford site contractors since 1977 and devoted her time and loving personality to anyone and everyone. Susan loved to travel and experience all life had to offer. Her easy smile and infectious laugh will be missed by all who knew her. Susie was the cherished daughter of Marlene and the late Oren B. Shaw, partner in life and crime for the last ten plus years with Elliott Ahola, fond sister of Dennis (Sharon) Shaw and Ann (Scott) Marks, loving mother to Gelinda (Jim) Lambert, Chad (Elizabeth) Renz and Laura Renz, a devoted grandmother to Riley and Peyton Lambert, Grace, Aidan and Clare Renz and a valued aunt to Carter (Logan) Wiggins and Garritt Marks. She will also be missed by an extended family of aunts, uncles and cousins.
Services will be held May 3, 2019 at 1 pm at Events at Sunset, Sunset Gardens 915 Bypass Hwy Richland, Washington. Should friends desire, contributions may be sent to Seattle Cancer Care Alliance.
My horse goal for 2018 was to compete in a trail event. Susan wanted to go too, so off we went to LaGrande. At the competition, you get to chooses your level. I chose novice because it was my first competition. Not Susan! She said we drove too far to not go all out. She went advanced. Guess who got 2nd place in Advanced! Needless to say, because of her I try Advanced whenever I can. That first competition was a year ago today. I am so thankful for having known Susan. She was kind, funny, inclusive and generous. What a treasure. Peace be with you.
Susan, you were such a sweet, pleasant person. I watched you and your sister grow up and you developed into two such nice adults. Your classmates and the community was very blessed to have you grow up here. My prayers go out to your family and many friends… Rest in peace without pain anymore.
Sue and I started the first grade together and even at a young age, she was genuine on every level. Always hardworking and a “get-it-done” kind of girl, she retained that original gift of genuinity and it has been an honor to have called her a friend. May she Rest In Peace and her beloved family and friends find comfort knowing her legacy lives on through each of them.
Susan and I have been horse friends for over 10 years. She had a take on life that was fun, adventurous and kind. No matter what life gave her she took it with grace. She truly loved live and lived it to the fullest.
Susan was a horse friend and my barn neighbor at the Richland Riders Club for many years. she took incredibly good care of her horses and her barns, and she rode her horses with great joy and passion. she would get a huge glow about her whenever she talked with me about an upcoming trail ride, a clinic or a show, and she was one of those people who (like myself) valued the company of animals as much as the company of people. some will say that Susan’s on her way to heaven…. but i’ve seen Susan ride for years and i can tell you that she’s been there hundreds of times already. i will miss her smile, her encouragement, and her kindness. i’m so glad she seized every opportunity she had to enjoy states of bliss in the saddle while she was with us, and many of us at the club will miss her very much.
Susan was a joy to work with and an inspiration as a leader in the design engineering industry.
She was and is highly regarded and respected by all who came into contact with her!
She will be forever in our thoughts and prayers.

May God’s embracing love provide comfort and strength for Susan’s family and friends. As her counselor at Ki-Be, she was always a blessing to be around. She will be missed!
Susan was that perfect combination of intelligence, heart, and strength. In her personal as well as professional life she leaves those of us she touched with fond remembrance of a life well lived but left much too soon.
Susan was a huge contributor to the success of the Soil and Groundwater projects. She was never afraid of tackling new assignments. She will be sorely missed by the team of engineers and designers. God bless to her extended family and friends.
