Susannah Q. Denny

Susannah Q. Denny, 94, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Oct. 12, at Brookdale-Richland.

Born May 26, 1925 in Albany, N.Y., she was the daughter of Oliver Jr. and Signa Quayle. She and her husband, Dann, spent most of their adult lives in Morrison, Ill., where they loved to socialize with friends and play golf and tennis.   Dann was a mechanical engineer with General Electric and Susannah was a homemaker.

When Dann retired, they later moved to Punta Gorda, Fla., where they lived together until Dann passed away in 2010. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Oliver Quayle III, and her parents.

Surviving relatives include her daughter, Geri Leonard; her son, Dann Denny Jr.; her grandchildren Ben Massey (Alicia), Nick Massey ( Sarah), Alison Denny and Susannah Denny; and her great grandchildren Layla Massey, Harper Massey, Elizabeth Massey and Nora Massey.

Susannah was an avid sports fan and an outstanding golfer and tennis player who won many tournaments.  For several years, she taught a highly popular ballroom dancing class to junior high students.

She possessed a marvelous sense of humor, was a fabulous storyteller, and an expert grammarian.  She had a zest for life that was contagious, and taught her children how to laugh at themselves and think of others. She also was big on etiquette, teaching her children to write thank-you notes and use proper manners at the dinner table.

She will be missed by all her friends and loved ones, but is now with the Lord.

Cremation rites have been accorded to Einan’s at Sunset.  There will be no services.
