Frances “Geneva” McColley

Frances Geneva McColley, age 80, passed away March 7, 2020, in Grand Junction, Colorado.

Geneva was born February 10, 1940, in Pike County, Arkansas. She was the third child of Harlon and Ilor Mae Horn. Geneva lived in Arkansas and Oklahoma until the age of 13 when her family moved to Fruitland, Idaho.

Geneva Graduated in 1958 from Fruitland High School in Fruitland, Idaho.

After moving to Idaho Geneva’s family was invited to the Gospel meetings in that area and she was the first in her family to profess her commitment to Christ. Her joy was in serving her Lord and often encouraged her family and friends to put Christ first. She was faithful in writing to the servants of God to encourage them in their service. She loved to hear the gospel story told and would attend the weekly fellowship meetings and gospel meetings.

Geneva worked as a telephone operator for General Telephone Electric until she retired and moved to Louisiana to help her sister, Betty, in the care of their mother. She later moved back to Washington to be near family and friends that she knew and loved all her life and lived the last four years in Colorado.

Geneva was preceded in death by her daughter, Joyce McColley; her parents, Harlon and Ilor Mae Horn; and two brothers, Preston Horn and Joe Horn; sister, Lorene Horn; and nephew, Billy Horn.

Geneva is survived by her daughter, Sheila McColley; son, Kent (Janie) McColley; son, Loren (Renita) McColley; nephew, Ray (JoAnn) McColley; nine grandchildren, three great grandchildren; sister, Betty Garrett; brother, Roland Horn; and several nieces and nephews.

There will be a memorial service for Geneva at 11:00 am on Saturday, March 14, 2020, at Events at Sunset, 915 Bypass Hwy, Richland, Washington 99352

  • Sure will miss my dear sweet Aunt. The memories of her dear letters and phone calls when she was able to do so as well as her beautiful voice singing in Church and as she was doing chores. Great memories. Love you Aunt Geneva! Our Heavenly Father has you now. Until we meet again
