Suzanne Ehlers

Suzanne Linda Ehlers May 4, 1939 – December 1, 2020, Richland, Washington

Suzanne was born on May 4, 1939 to Emerson and Sylvia Slater. She was raised in Seattle, WA and attended West Seattle High School graduating in 1957. She went on to Washington State University, where she earned a degree in education and was a member of Gamma Phi Beta sorority. On December 22, 1962, she married Roland (Rolly) Ehlers of Seattle.

Suzanne and Rolly moved to Richland in 1967 after a few years in California where both of their children, Greg and Kristin were born.

Suzanne spent several years teaching in the Richland School District and her whole life volunteering. She was incredibly involved with The Tri-Cities Cancer Center, P.E.O Sisterhood, and in earlier years, The Symphony Guild. She attended Central United Protestant Church for many years and enjoyed singing in the choir in recent years.

Suzanne was blessed to live in a great community with so many lifelong friends. With their friends, she and Rolly enjoyed traveling, playing golf, bridge, shopping at Nordstrom’s (not Rolly), and traveling to Palm Desert each winter. Suz was always ready to entertain with a beautifully set table and a wonderful meal.

Suzanne’s favorite role in life was raising her children, and in the last twenty-four years, being a grandmother. She never missed sending a card and cookies for birthdays, other milestones, and holidays; her traditions were cherished and always welcome and will be missed by all.

Suzanne is preceded in death by her mother, her father, and her brother, Todd Slater. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Roland Ehlers of Richland, WA, son Greg Ehlers of Las Vegas, NV and daughter Kristin (Jeff) Adams of Kirkland, and grandsons Ryan Ehlers, Ethan Ehlers, Quenten Ehlers, Jackson Adams, and Carson Adams, and sister Janet Ashley of Bellevue, WA.

In place of flowers, please make donations, in her honor to the Cancer Center in Kennewick Washington or P.E.O International Foundation.

There will be a graveside service Saturday, January 16th at 1:00 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

When it is safe to gather, we will celebrate the life of Suzanne.

  • Suzanne was one of the first women I met when I moved to the Tri-Cities 5 years ago. She introduced me to her P.E.O. chapter and later we worked together on a project. A delightful lady snd a wonderful P.E. O. Sister. We will miss her.
