Yu-Jing Chang Huang
Yu-Jing Chang Huang, 73, reached the end of a valiant battle with anaplastic thyroid cancer on December 3, 2020.
In home hospice care during her final days, she inspired us with her grit, sound mind, ability to enjoy her grandkids despite physical pain, and her enduring gratitude for all that filled her life. Born in 1947 in Chiayi, Taiwan, Yu-Jing came to the U.S. in 1969, and lived for over 40 years in Richland, Washington.
Yu-Jing earned her Master of Science in Computer Science at State University of New York at Albany in 1974. She was a software engineer for 45 years at Hanford, keeping up with all the latest technology.
After raising three children as a full-time working mother, Yu-Jing enjoyed singing with a choir, dancing with the International Folk Dancers of Richland, and regularly attending the Racquet Club with her husband for daily exercise, especially attending Zumba classes.
Mrs. Huang was predeceased by her father Wei-Hsiang Chang and mother Fu-Jung Chang. Survivors include her husband, Fan-Hsiung; son, Herb; daughters, Hana and Helen; grandchildren Tyler, Sidney, Colin, Madeline, Ava, Isabella, Kira, and Amalena; sisters Yu-Kuei, Yu-Li, Yu-Mei, Yu-Hsiung; brother Ken; three nephews, and three nieces.
The family expresses appreciation to the hospice team at Chaplaincy Health Care.
A private family service was held at Sunset Memorial Gardens, followed by a celebration of life at a private family residence.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial gifts may be made to the International Folk Dancers of Richland. Make checks payable to IFDR, and mail donations to:
