Barbara Joanne Ross

Barbara Joanne Ross (Daniel), age 73, passed away Tuesday, February 16, 2021. She was born in Puyallup, WA on March 25, 1947 and resided in Richland/West Richland off and on for 26 years. She grew up in Anacortes and Guemes with her parents and three sisters, attending school there, and graduating from Anacortes High School. At the age of 21 she worked for a summer as a waitress at Rosario Resort on Orcas Island where she met a bartender named Jim. Three months later they tied the knot and were married for 52.5 years. Barb lived with her husband and children in Washington, Louisiana, Florida, Illinois, and Arizona. She loved traveling and going on road trips. She was able to visit all 50 of the United States in her lifetime, even getting to hold her first great-grandchild on her last road trip south. Barb loved her home, taking care of her yard and garden, reading, doing puzzles, browsing antiques, cooking, and being in or near the water. She was a kid at heart—playful and loving. Family meant everything to her—she loved them all. She found purpose teaching kids at Prayerwatch Christian Center in Kennewick, always praying that God would use her to show Jesus to those children. She lived a life with Jesus at the center, striving to give Him glory every day. She leaves a legacy for her family & friends—a giving heart filled with love. Preceded in death by her father, Frank Daniel; step-father, Andy Thorneycroft, and mother, Glenys Thorneycroft. She is survived by her husband, Jim Ross; daughter, Stacie Ross and her partner Aaron; daughter, Nikki Mans and her husband, Scott; son, Andrew Ross and his wife, Carolyn; sisters Bev Armstrong, Beth Pemberton and her husband Jim, and Lori Usher and her fiancée Scott; 7 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Barb’s family spread her ashes on April 24, 2021 at the Oregon coast near Yachats—a favorite place she visited. A memorial service will be held at 1:00PM Saturday, July 24, 2021 at Einan’s Chapel, 915 Bypass Hwy, Richland, WA with a reception following in Kennewick.

The family would like to express thanks to all who provided them with comforting words, flowers, and meals in the days following the sudden loss of Barb, and for the love and support they continue to receive as they grieve. Condolences may be sent to 609 Torbett Street, Richland WA 99354.

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control…”—Galatians 5:22

  • Safely Home

    I am home in heaven, dear ones;
    Oh so happy and so bright!
    There is perfect joy and beauty
    In this everlasting light.

    All the pain and grief is over,
    Every restless tossing passed;
    I am now at peace forever,
    Safely home in heaven at last.

    Did you wonder how I so calmly
    Trod the valley of the shade?
    Oh, but Jesus’ love illumined
    Every dark and fearful glade.

    And he came himself to meet me
    In that way so hard to tread;
    And with Jesus’ arm to lean on,
    Could I have one doubt or dread?

    Then you must not grieve so sorely,
    For I love you dearly still;
    Try to look beyond earth’s shadows,
    Pray to trust our Father’s will.

    There is work still waiting for you,
    So you must not idly stand;
    Do it now, while life remains,
    You shall rest in Jesus’ land.

    When that work is all completed,
    He will gently call you home;
    Oh, the rapture of that meeting,
    Oh, the joy to see you come!

    Love and Prayers to all of you,

    Kendra
