Martha Sue “Marti” Fleming
Martha Sue “Marti” Fleming, age 75, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 12th, 2021, at Kadlec Regional Medical Center in Richland, Washington. Marti was born April 13th, 1945 in St. Joseph, Missouri and lovingly adopted by Harold Jacob and Ruby Geraldine “Jerry” Hartigan.
Marti and her family traveled extensively in Europe and Asia because of her father’s military career and were deeply involved in the Catholic community of the Cathedral of St. Joseph, where she was baptized, confirmed and married. A 1963 graduate of Bishop LeBlond High School, she married Johnny Mack Fleming on August 13th, 1966 and took enormous pride in making a wonderful home for Johnny and their children Jason (Patty), James (Rochelle) and Amy (Keith) Ragan. Marti and Johnny made their homes in Kansas City, Missouri; Richland, Washington; Desoto, Texas and Benton City, Washington and eventually retired to a home in West Richland, Washington.
Marti enjoyed camping, fishing, water-skiing, reading, gardening, watching movies, traveling with Johnny and spending time with her cats.
She is survived by her husband, three children, six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She was a wonderful full of life lady, I will always have fond memories of her .
Our family was blessed to live next door to the Flemings for many years here in Richland, We both had children close to the same age. Jason, James, and Amy were friends and grew up with our Eric, Missy, Teresa, and Mandy. We have many fond memories of them all.
Our thoughts and prayers are with John, Jason, James, and Amy at this time. We miss her too, although it has been many years. We will always remember Marti as we think about those years as our children grew up on Sage Court.
Sara and I enjoyed our times visiting with John and Marty. Marty was always inquisitive and had a great sense of humor. She will be missed by many. Memories of her will remain forever.
Dear Marti,
From the first time we met you at the potluck of the ARE Group about 18 years ago, we knew that you are a special lady because you “broke the mold”, as Dan said. We have always enjoyed visiting with you, and I still remember we went to your 40th Wedding Anniversary when you and John renewed your vows in your backyard, it was lovely!
We are here in your viewing to pay our last respect, we love and will miss you! We will also keep an eye on John to see that he remains healthy.
Love,
Kitty and Dan
My deepest sympathy for your loss.
A fun lady. She will be missed by all of us.
I thank you dear friend for your part in my journey, what fun we had and laughs we had. You were my friend and my sis I never had. Peace be yours now.
My condolences on your loss, you all are like family for me, and my heart is with you all at this time. Love you all
