Amanda Guerra

Amanda Elizabeth Guerra was called home to heaven by our Lord on October 7, 2021. Amanda was a loving daughter, wife, mother and friend to all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her Grandfathers Nicolas Mikulich, Sterling Schmoker and  Grandmother, Theresa Jeanette Schmoker. Amanda was born on September 22, 1984, in Tacoma Washington to Duane and the Reverend Theresa (Terry) Schmoker. She was the youngest of three children including her older brother, Mathew Jacob Schmoker and her sister, Sarah Jean (Schmoker) Tainter.

Amanda spent most of her 37 years of life in the Tri Cities. She graduated from Richland High School and attended college in Seattle. After college, she returned to Richland and in 2008, Amanda met the love of her life, Wilton Guerra. They were married in April of 2009. Amanda and Wilton have three children, Nicholas 12, Patrick, 10 and Lilly 3. In addition to her paternal family, Amanda has several “brothers” and “sisters” that are part of the Schmoker’s extended family. This includes the Anaya family, Galicia, Gustavo, and Gabriella along with their spouses and children. Days before her passing, Amanda had the opportunity to meet her family-in-law in Guatemala. She fell in love with the country and particularly with Wilton’s family.

Amanda had a great love for life and lived it to its fullest. She spent all her time being a wife, mother,  daughter and friend. She loved her family, family traditions, and the holidays. She was active in her children’s sports, school, and church activities. One of Amanda’s greatest attributes was to look at every day as a “new day”. She had a wonderful ability to  put the bad things in the past and look forward to the adventures of every new day.

Now Amanda is in heaven with God, at peace and free of the burdens of this life. She looks down upon us and smiles with each new day and says….. “this is not goodbye but rather….. “I love you, and I’ll see you later” .

  • We are never ever prepared for the loss of a child, a spouse, or a mother. Amanda’s life was just too short. My heartfelt sympathy to Duane and Terry and to Wilton and the boys. I am certain that Amanda has sent angels to look after each of you.
