Carolyn Faye Hoey

Carolyn Faye Flora was born June 15, 1940 in Prosser, Washington to Kathryne and David Flora. She was a lifelong resident of Richland and graduated from Columbia High School, Class of 1958. She met and married Ed Hoey on November 26, 1960. Together they had 2 children, Cathy and Scott and son John Corby.

Carolyn was a dedicated and loving wife, mother, sister, auntie, cousin, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. Life for her was always about Family. She loved planning get-togethers, holidays, parties, reunion, picnics and small trips with family and friends. Carolyn was a school bus driver for 28 years with the Richland School district. She loved her job, all “her kids” and made many lifelong friendships with her co-workers. After retiring in 2001, she and Ed began their retirement journey. They enjoyed traveling and cruising the World for several years before purchasing their “Winter Happy Place” in Lake Havasu City, AZ in 2010.They have made many new friends who have become extended family. Carolyn loved “snow birding”, playing cards, visiting and lunching with her lady friends.

Carolyn enjoyed many interests and hobbies. She loved all things “nature”, enjoyed sewing, crocheting, gardening and water color painting. She was the “Queen of Genealogy” spending hours putting together “Family Trees”. She joined a Women’s bowling league with her bus driver friends and spent years every Wed between bus runs enjoying their company and perfecting her 200+ average bowling skills. “Turkeys” were a common occurrence for her! Of all these things, she loved and enjoyed being a “Granny” to her 7 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. They were her life and she cherished each and every one of them.

Carolyn fought a brave battle with cancer over the years and did so with grace and the most positive of attitudes. On March 3, 2022 at the age of 81 she peacefully made her way to Heaven and into the waiting arms of Jesus with her Family by her side in Lake Havasu, AZ.

She is survived by her husband Ed of 61 years, daughter Cathy Theis (Ken Swanson), son Scott Hoey (Kristin), son John Corby. Grandchildren: Caitlyn Andrew’s, Jacob and Daniel Theis, Rachel, Jared (Victoria), Isaac and Caleb Hoey. Great grandchildren: Ella, Keaton, Carter, Grace, Uriah and Izaiah. Brothers Barney (Bobbie) Flora, Richard Flora, sisters Kathy Krueger, Dolores McCullough, Della Keyes and many much loved cousins, nieces and nephews.

Carolyn will be deeply missed and always loved greatly! Hospice of Havasu was a Godsend for our family and Mary Jo Lowe, friend and neighbor in Havasu was our Angel!

A Celebration of Life will be held at Einans Event Center on Sunday, May 1st, 2022 1-3pm followed by a graveside service for any and all family. In lieu of flowers all donations can be made to Hospice of Havasu in honor of Carolyn Hoey. www.mightycause.com/organization/Hospiceofhavasu
