Joseph Michael (Joe) Hedrick passed away March 10th, 2022.  He was born to William Preston Hedrick and Phyllis Elenor Doherty Hedrick on May 29th, 1955 in Pasco, WA, the youngest of 5 children.  He graduated from Kamiakin High School in 1973.  He was a member of the Tri-City Columbians Drum & Bugle Corps from 1968 to 1973. He loved playing the baritone bugle and was thrilled when the corps was reformed in 2013.  After serving in the Air Force he graduated from CBC in 1984 with Associate degrees in Arts & Science and Computer Science.  On August 1st, 1986 he married the love of his life Diane Irby and spent the remainder of his life with her.  They had 2 wonderful daughters Katelyn and Cassandra.  He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from WSU in 1995 and went on to work in project controls and accounting for Fluor Federal Services for 15 years followed by 5 years in finance with Energy Solutions in Richland. Joe spent several years attending classes at Old Warrior Horse Kung Fu Academy learning taiji quan, xing ji quan, and ba gua.  He especially enjoyed the thoughtful instruction of his teacher shifu Kraig Stephens.  Joe was a proud Elder of the Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indians. A special thank you to his wonderful health care team that respected and cared for him throughout this journey. He couldn’t have asked for better care in Dr. Tucker Larsen, Dr. Katherine Cayetano, Dr. Shannon Bales, Dr. Jeffrey Lehr, and ARNP April Valdez. He is survived by the love of his life, wife Diane Irby-Hedrick, daughters Katelyn Hedrick and Cassandra Hedrick, sisters: Patty Hedrick, Mary Knox (Dennis), and Virginia Hedrick, brother: Bobby Meeks, and numerous nieces and nephews.  He is preceded in Death by his father William Preston Hedrick, mother Phyllis Elenor (Doherty) Meeks and brother William Phillip (Bill) Hedrick.  He enjoyed working on his computers, spending time with friends and family online, reading the news on his computer, and ruthless matches of Chinese checkers with his sister, Mary.  His grandparents (Elmer & Beulah Hedrick, PJ & Agnes Doherty) are all buried at Cityview cemetery in Pasco, WA. Viewing at Einan’s at Sunset Funeral Home from 1-5pm on Thursday, March 24th. • Life is precious and at times take those we love to soon. Leaving a place in our hearts full of memories to reach for when the individual is physically no longer there. Aunt Diane, many of the memories I have of Uncle Joe also involve you, Katie, and Cassie. Family gatherings, cookies, Joe’s quick wit, and the infamous flying pizza (which I have to admit you had very good aim). You are and will continue to be my Aunt Diane, hugs for you and the girls.

  • I had the great pleasure of working with Joe at EnergySolutions and have fond memories of him. I appreciated his patience with me when he explained the intricacies of accountancy and he was very much appreciated. God Bless.

  • There isn’t enough space to record all the great memories, here is a handful: the green hornet, fishing trips, pancake breakfasts, BBQs, playing rummy, culture camp and passing on wisdom like an uncut cake is one piece of cake. Diane, Kate and Cassie we are family forever and here for you always. Gilbert, Teri, Mary, Ruby and Adam.
