Maxine Newell Kovalchick

Maxine N. Kovalchick, age 84, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 15, 2022 in Kent, Washington. She was born February 8, 1938 in Denver, Colorado.

She married the love of her life, Charles (Chick) Kovalchick in February 1958 in Richland Washington. Before marriage and until she started a family, she worked for General Electric in the Hanford Area. Maxine and Chick had seven children.

Maxine enjoyed many pleasures, including attending weekly mass, sharing coffee with neighbors, ceramic arts, family ski trips, camping and family road trips (if you can believe it – with seven kids!) One of her favorite past times was motorhome vacationing with her husband. They spent many happy years on the road touring the United States and meeting up with relatives.

Maxine is survived by her four daughters Julie DiLiberto (Tony), Kathy Ober (Steve), Tamara Wheeler (Darren), and Angie Halley (Jim), her two sons Chris Kovalchick and Greg Kovalchick; ten grandchildren and four great grandchildren; and sister Pattie Collins (Tom); and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband Chick and daughter Karen Safko.

She will be greatly missed by her children, family and friends, as she was truly a dear, sweet soul. Maxine will be fondly remembered for her peaceful demeanor, love of family and her lively, witty sense of humor.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Alzheimer’s Disease Research Foundation, 34 Washington St., Suite 310, Wellesley Hills, MA 02481 or online at curealz.org

  • Maxine, was one of my best friends, I grew up with her in Richland. I lived behind her on Birch. We went to the same schools and the same church. This is a real shock that my dear friend is gone. God bless your families dear ones. I am so sorry. My prayers are with my dear friend Maxine and her beloved family.
