Alta “Jean” Miller

On August 22nd our mom was called home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was born on November 19th to George and Vena (Covey) Snipes in Yellville, Arkansas. Mom was raised in Yakima, WA and attended Marks Elementary in West Valley. She later attended and graduated from Highland High School in 1955.

In 1956 she was married LeRoy Miller and together they had two sons Timothy Don Miller and Joseph Leroy Miller.

Mom was very active in her younger years with tennis, hiking and spending time with her family. In her later years she loved to watch tennis and rarely missed a Major tournament on TV. She loved to crochet, knit, sew, painting and cook a meal for whom ever might stop by. To say her cooking was creative would be a mis understatement. She loved to visit and tell stories about her family and friends. She had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to see others laugh. She loved to go on “Adventures” whether to Costco or fishing.

Mom had three careers in her lifetime. Her first was as a part owner of a successful Real Estate agency in the Tri Cities, the second was at the Hanford Nuclear plant where she first retired from, then her final one in the Admitting department of Memorial Hospital. It was at Memorial that she forged her strongest friendships and carried them on till the end.

But by far, her pride and joy where her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was never modest to tell you how great they all where and how much she loved them.

Mom is preceded in death by her parents George and Vena Snipes.

She is survived by her brother, Don and wife Nadyne Snipes of Yakima, WA, sons Timothy and wife Margo Miller of Union, WA, Joseph and wife Beth Miller of Kennewick, WA.

Grandchildren, Zac Barnes, Ryan (Taylor) Miller, Kyle (Jackie Bobeck) Miller, Patricia Miller, Olivia (Preston) DeHan, Evan Rodriguez, Lexy (Cori) Nickerson and Olivia Swenson. Mom is also survived by her Great Grandchildren, Hudson and Bristol Miller, Everly DeHan, Izaac Soyck, Jax and Roy Nickerson and her nephews, Dan (Ann) Snipes, Doug (Nichole) Snipes and Niece Gail Kunz all of Yakima WA.

Per Moms wishes there will be no service, but a Celebration of Life will take place later.

In leu of flowers, Mom would like you to have a piece of pie with your family and share a laugh.

  • Joe and Tim,
I am so sorry for your loss. Jeannie was such a fun, sweet lady. I remember well our mothers getting together for a glass of wine and doing a “craft”. The chatter and laughter never stopped. Their friendship however short, I believe God put them across the cul-de-sac from each other for a reason. God bless you and your families as you celebrate the life of this special lady.
