DARLENE D. WOMACK-SUNDERGELT
January 16,1934 – November 9, 2022
The best Mom, Grandmother and Friend to ever live passed away peacefully Wednesday, November 9th surrounded by her adoring family. Her blue eyes, bright smile, and contagious laughter are already missed. Darlene was born to Edith and Harry Hansen in Kennydale, WA. She was raised in Maple Valley, WA and was the oldest of two children. She graduated from Tahoma High in 1952. She eventually landed in Moses Lake and then Kennewick, where she resided for the remainder of her life raising her children and grandchildren on 21st Street and then in Canyon Pines Mobile Park. She began working as a Retail Clerk for Safeway at the Richland location in 1970 and stayed with Safeway until her retirement in 2000. Her Safeway colleagues were a second family to her that she forever cherished. Many great memories were made at those legendary Safeway parties and events. Words cannot encapsulate such a vivacious, generous human being. Anyone that knew her would surely attest to such. Her life was full of adventures but mostly full of time with family, Mariner’s games, yard sales, holiday bazaars, and her dogs. She was a dedicated friend and she was always the life of any party. Her favorite place to be was up at Mount Rainier with her mom, daughters and granddaughters shopping until they dropped at the bi-annual Packwood Flea Market. The giggles of which will last forever in our hearts.
She is preceded in death by her mother and father, her brother, Mickey, her husband, Ed Sundergelt, and her daughter, Kathi Witkowski. She is survived by her daughter, Robyn Leseberg, her son-in-law, Mike Leseberg, grandchildren, Leah (Chris) Drexler, Ashley (Austin) Pentecost, Jordan (Shae) Leseberg, Larissa (Makenzie) Hines, Erin Leseberg, Zane Witkowski, Kira Witkowski, and son-in-law Rick Witkowski.
A celebration of her life will be planned for March 11th in order to allow for family and friends to make arrangements for attendance.
