Frances Hays
Frances Lee Hays (Collins), 83, of Toppenish, WA passed away peacefully as the sun was rising on Sunday, December 4, 2022. She was cared for and surrounded by her loving family and friends. Frances was born in Toppenish, WA to the late Frederick and Amelia Reimer on December 4, 1939. She was raised with her six older sisters, Katherine, Maggie, Ruth, Helen, Clara, and Bertha, who all preceded her in death. Frances worked for many years in the agricultural production industry. In 2003 she retired from the Del Monte Corporation in Toppenish, WA. Happily, after retiring, Frances reunited with an old love – Sam Hays. Sam courted Mom for a year, and they married in Reno, NV in 2006. We were so happy to see Mom and Sam together again because he made her happy. They had so much fun traveling to visit family and friends. Frances and Sam raised sheep on their farm in Prosser, WA. When Sam passed away Frances moved back to Toppenish to be closer to her family. Frances excelled at and loved gardening, sewing, and candy making. Her annual Christmas candy trays were highly coveted by family and friends! Mom loved to listen to music while she crocheted or when putting jigsaw puzzles together. She’d never say no to a bingo or shopping trip and was a great pool player in her heyday. Frances was a loving, caring mother, sister, aunt, and friend. She had a wonderful laugh that was unique to her, and although we will miss hearing it, we will never forget it. She is survived by her daughter Sue Bounds and son Bill Collins (Jennifer) all of Toppenish. Grandchildren, Miranda (Zeph) Valdovinos, Katie Bounds, Nile Collins, and Wyatt Collins. Great grandchildren, Nattie Valdovinos and Brett This. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and friends – Including her dear niece Sharron (Don) Fergus, half-brother Fred (Rickie), half-sister Annie Koch, and special family friends Vivian Hartford, Doug, and Cathy Watts. there will be an interment of ashes and celebration of life at 11:00 am on Friday, December 16, 2022, at the Zillah Cemetery. The family requests that all flowers and notes are sent to Einan’s at Sunset Funeral Home 915 Bypass Hwy Bldg H, Richland, WA 99352 (509) 943-1114.
