Joshua Ryan French

Joshua Ryan French, 29, passed away on March 4, 2023, in Richland, WA.

He is lovingly remembered by his son, Carter, mother, Trish (Siran) French, father, Ray French, sister, Lori, and brother, Paul.

Josh was an incredible collection of things. He had a capacity for humor, mayhem, and care that was a sight to behold. He could capture a room and wow with his personality and generosity. He could enrage his family in mere moments with his shenanigans then turn around and humble us with deep and genuine love.

Josh struggled for a long time to find his niche, battling with anxiety and depression that made the pursuits of career path and purpose more daunting than they already are. Recently though, he found his stride leading a team of people. We were so proud to watch him support and empower them, and see his encouragement engender their growth. We watched several groups of young people develop a true appreciation for the man we had long known he would be.

The greatest joy and gift in Joshua’s life is his son Carter, who has changed all of our lives for the better, too. Nearly as prone to shenanigans as Josh was, Carter is a delight and privilege to know, and it gives us a measure of peace to have a bit of Josh living on.

The Celebration of Life will be held at Westside South on Saturday, March 25th at 11 a.m.

Inurnment: SMG, Richland, WA.

Memorial donations can be made in Joshua’s name to the Pasco campus of Teen Challenge at https://teenchallengepnw.com/locations/tricities-campus/

  • I knew Josh through our church “Temple Baptist” I will remember Josh for his kindness, and enthusiasm.
He would always smile and say hello. He was a wonderful young man to have in our youth group.
I’m very sorry for your loss.

  • This little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine … is how the song goes. It reminds me of Josh. He had hair that was like a light, it was so platinum blonde, you had to look twice. And it lasted for a long time. And it is a reflection of his personality. If he was in the room, and he got the giggles, pretty soon we all did. He had an ability to bring joy to others. We won’t forget you, Josh.

  • Josh had a smile that would light up the room, it was infectious. The last time we were together he was teasing us, and he thought it was quite funny. He then broke into laughter. He had a great laugh. We love you Josh.
