Roy William Andrews Jr.

It is with sadness we announce that Roy Andrews passed away June 15, 2023, from liver cancer. Roy was born in Puyallup, Washington on June 10, 1969, to Roy Sr. and Robin (Sladek) Andrews. He was a younger brother to Cheryl. When he was one year old, he moved to Othello, Washington, where he lived until he was an adult. From a young age, Roy was an adventurous soul. He married Shawna Field in 1993 and they had daughter, Sierra Andrews, in 1995. He married Toni Jeanne (TJ) Mays in 2008.

He enjoyed doing roofing. He loved metal detecting along with his Grandpa Andrews. He also could be found rock hunting whenever he had the opportunity to do so. He was a footloose wanderer by nature. He loved a good joke and liked to play practical jokes. He had a mischievous smile and infectious laugh.

Many knew Roy only through the lens of his past addictions that he battled for years. That wasn’t the real Roy though, and those fortunate enough to truly know him immediately recognized him as one who would give the clothes he was wearing to help a friend in need. He donated his bone marrow to his sister, Cheryl, who had leukemia. He was one who ended nearly every conversation with those he cared for with ‘love ya.’

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, James and Vivian Andrews, William and Lee (Sladek) Hutsell, Joseph Sladek, and beloved sister, Cheryl. He is survived by his father, Roy (Karen) Andrews Sr. and mother Robin (Tom) Eldhardt. He also leaves his loving wife, Toni Jeanne (TJ) Andrews, daughter Sierra Andrews, nephews Shane and Jared O’Brien and step-daughter Chantelle Maki.

  • Oh my sweet cousin, how I am going to miss you. Thanks for the laughs you have brought to me over the years and especially this last year. As I asked before, say hi to our grandparents who are ecstatic you are there to join them along with Cheryl. I hope you get to laugh in Heaven!
